Training program for Next Generation Leaders
in AI in Maritime Economic Security and Sustainability (Japan-Europe)

LEADERSHIP

The program aims to cultivate highly skilled professionals, engineers, and policymakers with interdisciplinary and internationally accepted perspectives, knowledge, research capabilities, and experience in AI and maritime affairs, which are important fields contributing to the economic security of Japan and Europe. These individuals will be equipped to create new value and contribute to the development of a sustainable and better society by correctly applying their expertise in ways that support the achievement of the SDGs.

The following four competencies will be fostered throughout the program

  • (1) Research and practical skills to achieve the SDGs, based on AI technology and science in the marine and maritime fields to contribute to solving global issues
  • (2) The ability to select knowledge and scientific methods appropriate to the problem from multiple disciplines and to use cross-disciplinary research methods to address complex issues
  • (3) Communication skills to work with others in understanding the differences in backgrounds, ideas, and cultures in different countries and regions
  • (4) Ability to understand scientific thinking and methods and evidence-based decision-making skills in order to conduct research independently

Students who complete this program are expected to acquire high employability in the international labor market and will be able to create new value and contribute to the development of a sustainable society in various workplaces, including educational and research institutions, global corporations, international organizations, government agencies and local governments, and international NGOs. They are expected to play an active role as human resources who can create new value and contribute to the development of a sustainable society.
