PROJECT OVERVIEW
INTER-UNIVERSITY EXCHANGE PROJECT
This project, first launched by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) in FY2011, was designed to both preserve the quality of higher education in the future support, and to support the academic partnerships between universities in Japan and abroad, with existing bilateral student exchange programs. Other central goals of the project include the development of global human resources capable of acting on a truly global environment, as well as to strengthen the global development capability of university education across borders.
Triangular Study Abroad Program for Reciprocal Partnership with North and Sub-Saharan Africa
Planning:AY2020-AY2024
The purpose of this program is to establish a triangle overseas study program based on Hiroshima University’s experience in education and research in Africa, in collaboration with seven universities: five Egyptian universities in North Africa (Cairo University, Ain Shams University, Aswan University, Beni-Suef University and Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST)), and two universities in Sub-Saharan Africa (the University of Zambia and the University of Malawi). We foster human resources in both Japan and Africa who will not only serve as a bridge between Japan and Asia but will also serve as a bridge between the various African regions and can demonstrate leadership in multilateral international cooperation and lead high-quality economic development.
The three areas that we focus on, education, health care science, and food security, are areas that have high human resource development needs in Africa and are fundamental to high quality growth. These areas, where Japan has a lot of science and technological know-how, are important for Japan’s business in Africa. Strengthening cooperation between Japan and Africa, which is aiming for high quality growth, is expected to bring great benefits to the growth of both regions.

International Collaborative Human Resouces Development Program in Asia to Foster Inclusive Minds
Planning:AY2021-AY2025
While recognizing that communication barriers may arise from ableism, having or not having a sense of peace, differences in religious views, gender and minority status, we have created this program with the purpose of nurturing future human resources capable of managing diversity and inclusion. The program is created in accordance with Hiroshima University’s long term “SPLENDORPLAN2017” vision of realizing a free and peaceful Asia that fosters diversity, and will contribute to the achievement of UN SDGs, as well as to the realization of Society 5.0. In practice, this human resource development program is a hybrid format international exchange program combining synchronous and asynchronous online modules to face-to-face courses and is built upon the exchange partnerships between universities in Japan, China, and South Korea, as well as two South East Asian Universities.
